The Blue Wolves of Mibu is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tsuyoshi Yasuda. It has been serialized in Kodansha’s shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Magazine since October 2021; its first part finished in April 2024 and the second part, Shinsengumi Arc, started in the same month. Demon Lord, Retry! follows Akira Oono, an ordinary man and game developer who suddenly finds himself transported into his own online game’s fantasy world. To his shock, he is in the form of his game character, the powerful and intimidating Demon Lord, Hakuto Kunai. Despite his fearsome appearance and reputation, Hakuto is confused about his purpose in this new world and why he was summoned there. As he explores, he quickly realizes that his powers and presence have a significant impact on the world, drawing the attention of various factions, heroes, and mythical creatures. Along the way, he meets a young girl named Aku, and, despite being feared by most, Hakuto begins to form an unlikely team of companions who look to him for protection. With a mix of humor, action, and the occasional awkward situation as Hakuto balances his role as a ‘Demon Lord’ with his real personality, Demon Lord, Retry! presents a unique twist on the isekai genre. Through his journey, Hakuto confronts rival enemies, uncovers secrets of the game world, and questions his own role as both a creator and a character in this unpredictable realm.
